Zahidah Tunkara, CNM, is a certified nurse-midwife at Nile Women’s Health Care in Roswell, Georgia. She is careful to listen to her clients and include physiological, emotional and cultural factors as she believes they all impact how effective their course of care will be.
Zahidah has demonstrated excellent leadership skills and prides herself on calmly caring for patients in both controlled and emergency situations. She has had plenty of practice as she has wanted to deliver babies since she met her sister’s midwife at 10 years old. Zahidah went on to deliver with that same midwife and knew that was the type of relationship she wanted with her future patients.
Originally from Cleveland, OH, Zahidah spent nearly a decade as a nurse prior to completing her masters in midwifery. She believes being friendly, patient and compassionate are the best forms of communication. Her goal has always been to provide the most personable experience she can, which is what guided her to Nile Women’s Health Care.
As a certified nurse-midwife, Zahidah will be providing comprehensive care to gynecological, obstetrical, antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum clients. As an Alpharetta midwife, Ms. Tunkara will deliver at Wellstar North Fulton Hospital.
When not at work, Zahidah enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She likes to watch movies, play tennis, draw and read. Zahidah is also a skilled upholsterer who is adept at also giving old furniture new life.
